Camino Juan Salvador
200+ Years Old
2 Houses, 12 Guests
Starting @400/night

We are a family run organic farm located in a hidden valley of the Montes de Malaga with all of the peace and tranquility of deep nature, yet only 25 minutes from the Mediterranean and 30 minutes from the cosmopolitan city of Malaga.

Parents Pedro and Riny moved from Pedro’s native Andalucía to Riny’s home town of Maastricht, Netherlands. Son David spent his childhood between both countries and later became a commercial airline pilot, but gave up that career to pursue his culinary passions. He moved with Spanish wife Rosa and son little David to the farmhouse in Andalucía to help his parents develop the farm and rental business.

David in the meantime gained professional training and now works as a successful private gourmet chef off site, as well as for guests at Cortijo Juan Salvador. He uses the organic fruit and vegetables they grow themselves in the dishes he serves, and loves to garnish with edible flowers.

About our Cortijo

estled into the valley on some 6,5 hectares of private land within a protected area of the Montes de Malaga natural park, you’ll forget that you are within 30 minutes of the beaches and the cosmopolitan city of Malaga.

Your Hosts

Family Palacios

As a family outfit we relish in getting to know our guests and offer concierge service as standard, with daily touches such as fresh flowers and lit candles. We are proud to offer such personalized attention and superior culinary services. With our intimate local knowledge we can ensure a pleasant and fulfilling exploration of the ‘real Spain,’ though those preferring to stay close can enjoy miles of hiking trails around the property or simply relax by the pool.
The final result of the renovations is a flexible structure allowing private lodging for six (1 house), or combined (2 houses) for groups of up to fourteen. We have maintained the rustic character of the old cortijo, and the traditional Andalusia courtyard is as cozy and inviting as the surrounding gardens.

As an organic farm, and given David’s passion for food and cooking, serving local, home-grown organic produce is one of our specialties and sources of pride. We have many fruit trees and seasonal fruit and vegetables from the garden, which David uses in cooking for guests if they wish, or they may also wander through the many natural acres of the property and select fruit, citrus and veg for themselves.

We carefully conserve our water, sourced from a well and stored in a reservoir tank, though the supply is sufficient for liberal use by guests. Additionally, kitchen waste is composted, while paper and cardboard, glass and plastic are recycled to minimize landfill.

David and Rosa buy and sell goods at the local eco market weekly, including organic Spanish cotton products as Rosa is a representative of the Eco-Terry company based in Barcelona. Our rental properties also come equipped with these local eco products.

Cortijo Juan Salvador is a characterful and historic old farmstead newly renovated to offer luxurious accommodation for up to 12 people (two more possible on request) in two separate but connected units, each with private entrance and terraces. In total there are 6 double bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, 2 large kitchens, 2 living/dining rooms and TV room, 2 balcony terraces and a massive open courtyard. In 2 of the bedrooms we can put an extra bed; for the little ones we have baby beds at your disposal. On one of the terraces there is also an outdoor shower.

Additional services are available, including massage, guided tours, baby sitting and airport pick-ups. Full concierge service is also available, though the owners provide a high level of personal attention as standard.

Sight Seeing

Málaga has weathered the centuries in stride. Founded in the eighth century BC, Málaga is one of the oldest Mediterranean seaports. The landmarks reflect the city’s checkered past – ruins of a Roman theater, a 10th-century Moorish castle built on the remains of a Phoenician lighthouse, the 13th-century Alcazaba, and a beautiful Baroque basilica. Besides history, Málaga offers the stunning scenery of the Costa del Sol and great weather combined with culture and a beautiful stretch of beach.

Outdoor & Adventure

Málaga is positioned as one of the provinces with the most possibilities for enjoying adventure sport. Gorge-walking, spelunking, bungee-jumping, zip lining, paragliding, hiking, kayaking and many more activities for you to enjoy nature to the max because Málaga should be enjoyed by land, sea and air.

Day Trips

With a cultural and historical heritage to rival other top destinations in Spain, Malaga is without a doubt one of the most alluring places on the Costa Del Sol.

It also happens to be incredibly well located when it comes to day trips in the region.

Whether you’re looking for pristine beaches, Andalusian mountain towns or Moorish history, the sparsely populated areas near Malaga are filled with cultural and natural gems that are well worth leaving town for a day to see.

Art & Culture

Boasting more than 30 museums, Malaga is Andalusia’s leading cultural and historical hub. Its huge range of art museums is one of the city’s most fascinating offerings – and is by no means limited to showcasing the work of Pablo Picasso, Malaga’s most famous son.

Shows & Entertainment

Malaga and the Costa del Sol provide a wide range of choices for entertainment. Catering for the young and old, families, couples and single people.
